Getting started
How do I schedule my first appointment?
Getting started is easy! Click the "Book Free Consult" button on our website to schedule a free 15-minute consultation through our secure HIPAA compliant portal. During this brief call, we will answer your questions, learn about what brings you to therapy, and match you with the therapist who is the best fit for your needs.
What should I expect during my first session?
Your first session (intake) is 50 minutes and focuses on getting to know you. Your therapist will ask about your background, current challenges, goals for therapy, and what you hope to gain from the process. This is also your chance to ask questions and make sure you feel comfortable with your therapist. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready for.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can benefit anyone who wants to better understand themselves, develop healthier coping strategies, or work through a challenging period. You do not need to be in crisis to start therapy. If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, sad, or just want someone objective to talk to, therapy may be a great fit. Our free 15-minute consultation is a no-pressure way to explore whether therapy is right for you.
Insurance & fees
How much does therapy cost?
Our telehealth session rates are $150 for the initial intake session and $95 for follow-up sessions. In-person Saturday sessions are $200. We also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation before your first appointment so you can make sure we are the right fit.
Do you accept insurance?
We are an out-of-network practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly. However, many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits that can reimburse you for a portion of each session. We provide superbills (receipts) after each session that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. We recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.
Insurance companies dictate how many sessions you are allotted and *require *a diagnosis to cover your services. Healthcare providers paneled with insurance providers are required to submit documentation compromising your confidentiality. This may influence your health insurance or life insurance policy rates.
As your therapist and advocate for your well-being, we strongly believe you should have access to care without restrictions or contingencies. We are considered an out-of-network provider as we are not paneled with any insurance companies. Your records are kept completely secure and confidential.
No one will ever know you were in therapy if you do not want them to. Complete Privacy.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept credit cards, debit cards, HSA (Health Savings Account), and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) cards. Payment is collected at the time of your session through our secure HIPAA secure client portal.
Do you offer sliding scale fees?
Yes, we believe that financial barriers should not prevent anyone from accessing quality mental health care. We offer a limited number of sliding scale spots. Please ask about availability during your free consultation.
Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay for therapy?
Absolutely! Therapy sessions with a licensed therapist are an eligible expense for both Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). Simply use your HSA or FSA card as your payment method in the HIPAA secure client portal. Sliding scale rates are still eligible to use an HSA or FSA card as payment.
Telehealth
How does telehealth therapy work?
Our telehealth sessions take place over secure, HIPAA-compliant video through SimplePractice. All you need is a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. You will receive a link to join your session before each appointment. Telehealth therapy has been shown to be just as effective as in-person therapy for most concerns.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
Yes! We offer in-person sessions on Saturdays at our Willoughby, Ohio office located at 4212 SR-306, Suite 310. In-person sessions are available with select therapists. The majority of our sessions are conducted via telehealth, which allows us to serve clients across the entire state of Ohio.
Can I do therapy from anywhere in Ohio?
Yes! Our therapists are licensed in the state of Ohio and can see clients via telehealth anywhere in Ohio. Whether you are in Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Toledo, or a rural area, you can access our services from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
What to expect in sessions
How often will I have sessions?
Your therapist will work with you as a client to identify and develop individualized treatment goals that are unique to your presenting stressors, triggers, and challenges. Most clients start with weekly sessions, which allows for consistent progress and momentum. As you begin to feel more stable and develop stronger coping skills, we may transition to biweekly or monthly sessions. Resilient Wellness offers 30-minute shorter sessions to check in as needed. Your therapist will collaborate with you to find a frequency that works best for your goals and schedule. Schedule a Free 15 Minute consultation to meet your therapist
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee. We understand that life happens, and we are happy to help you reschedule within the 24-hour window whenever possible.
Is what I share in therapy confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. Everything you share in therapy is kept strictly confidential with very few exceptions required by law, such as imminent danger to yourself or others, or suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult. Your therapist will review the full confidentiality policy during your intake session. This is all outlined in your new client paperwork as well.
Resilient Wellness, being private pay extends that confidentiality as we do not share your information with health insurance policies. Insurance companies dictate how many sessions you are allotted and *require *a diagnosis to cover your services. Healthcare providers paneled with insurance providers are required to submit documentation compromising your confidentiality. This may influence your health insurance or life insurance policy rates.

Do you offer clinical supervision for LPCs?

General
What ages do you work with?
We work with adolescents (ages 13 and older), college students, young adults, and adults of all ages. Our therapists have particular expertise with teens, college-age clients, and young professionals navigating the unique challenges of these life stages. Some of our therapists will work with children aged 9-12 years old, per individual requests and inquiries.
What specialties do your therapists have?
Our therapists specialize in anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, academic and career stress, and adolescent and young adult concerns. Each of our uniquely qualified therapists offers different specialties to support our clients' unique needs. We use evidence-based approaches including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and person-centered therapy. Visit our Specialties page to learn more about how we can help with your specific concerns.
What is the difference between an LPC, LPCC, and LPCC-S?
In Ohio, an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) is a provisionally licensed counselor working under supervision toward independent licensure. An LPCC (Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor) has completed all supervised hours and holds an independent license. An LPCC-S has the additional Supervision Endorsement, meaning they are qualified to supervise other counselors. All of our therapists are fully qualified to provide therapy — the difference is in their licensure level and ability to supervise. Currently, all of our therapists are independently licensed LPCCs at a minimum.
Some of our LPCC-S clinicians — including Yiannoula Mavroidis, M.Ed., LPCC-S, BC-TMH; Dr. Staci Tessmer, Ph.D., LPCC-S, NCC, BC-TMH, ACS; and Hayle Fisher, M.A., LPCC-S, BC-TMH — are currently accepting new supervisee applicants as counselor trainees or LPCs.
Do you prescribe medication?
No, as licensed counselors we do not prescribe medication. However, we can collaborate with your psychiatrist or primary care physician if you are taking or considering medication. Many clients find that a combination of therapy and medication is the most effective approach, and we are happy to coordinate care with your prescribing provider. We can also connect you with a referral to further explore this option.
